Specialist complications care

Expert medical assessment for unwanted aesthetic results.

If you are concerned about the results of a previous aesthetic treatment you had at another clinic, our Aesthetic Complications Clinic provides specialist medical assessment, advice and treatment for unwanted results and complications following non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

We recognise that complications and unwanted aesthetic outcomes can occur following aesthetic treatments, and that when they do, patients need access to a clinic they can trust for independent specialist advice, assessment and support.

Based at The Academy Clinic, Copthall Avenue in London, our clinic is led by experienced medical aesthetic practitioners with specialist expertise in assessing and managing aesthetic complications.

Whether you have concerns about previous dermal filler, are considering filler dissolving, are experiencing asymmetry or simply want an expert medical opinion, our team is here to help you understand what has happened and what your options are.

Is this clinic for me?

When should I see an aesthetic complications specialist?

Not every patient who visits our Aesthetic Complications Clinic has experienced a medical complication.

You may simply be unhappy with the appearance of a previous treatment, feel that something has changed over time, or want professional advice before deciding whether further treatment is appropriate.

Concerns we can support with

  • 01Unwanted or unsatisfactory dermal filler results
  • 02Overfilling or concerns about excessive filler
  • 03Filler migration
  • 04Lumps or nodules
  • 05Asymmetry following aesthetic treatment
  • 06Concerns about previous lip filler
  • 07Concerns following wrinkle-reduction treatments
  • 08Previous treatments carried out at another clinic or by another practitioner
  • 09Uncertainty about what product or treatment you have received
  • 10Concerns about changes to the appearance of a previous treatment
  • 11Patients considering elective filler dissolving

You do not need to know exactly what has gone wrong before booking. A detailed assessment can help establish what may be contributing to your concerns and what options may be appropriate.

Why choose us

Why choose the Aesthetic Complications Clinic?

When something hasn't gone as expected, choosing the right practitioner is important. Our clinic provides a medically led approach focused on careful assessment, patient safety and informed decision-making.

Medically led care

All treatments are carried out by experienced medical practitioners with specialist knowledge of aesthetic medicine and complications management.

Specialist experience

Aesthetic complications require more than an understanding of how aesthetic treatments are performed. They require careful clinical assessment, medical decision-making and experience managing patients when outcomes are not as expected.

CQC registered

The Aesthetic Complications Clinic is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. CQC registration provides additional reassurance that our clinic operates within recognised standards for safety, quality and patient care.

Ultrasound assessment

Where appropriate, ultrasound imaging can be used to help assess the location of previous dermal filler and provide additional information to guide treatment.

Confidential and supportive

We understand that seeking help after an unwanted aesthetic outcome can feel overwhelming. Our aim is to provide a confidential, supportive environment where you feel listened to and have the opportunity to understand your options.

Appointments & pricing

Private appointments, expert medical support.

Every pathway begins with a detailed consultation and assessment before any treatment is recommended.

Your aesthetic complications consultation

A thorough assessment before treatment is recommended

Your first appointment begins with a detailed consultation and assessment. Your practitioner will discuss your concerns, previous aesthetic treatments and relevant medical history before examining the affected area.

Where appropriate, ultrasound assessment may be used to provide a more detailed understanding of previous filler placement and help guide the safest treatment approach.

Following your assessment, your practitioner will explain their findings and discuss the most appropriate next steps. This may include treatment, further investigation, monitoring or simply providing reassurance and advice.

A consultation does not mean you have to proceed with treatment. Sometimes, the most valuable first step is gaining clarity from an experienced medical professional.

Safety first

When should I seek urgent medical help?

The Aesthetic Complications Clinic is an outpatient service for assessment and management of concerns following non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

It is not an emergency service and is not suitable for patients requiring urgent hospital assessment or inpatient care.

If you experience symptoms including:

  • Sudden or severe pain
  • Sudden changes in vision or vision loss
  • Suspected stroke
  • Severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis
  • Severe infection
  • Significant or rapidly worsening swelling
  • Airway compromise
  • Severe bleeding
  • Sudden deterioration in your condition

you should seek urgent emergency medical care by calling 999 or attending your nearest A&E department.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms require urgent medical attention, seeking medical advice promptly is the safest option.

Patient experience

Specialist care when you need reassurance.

Seeking help after an unwanted aesthetic outcome can be daunting, particularly if you have already had a difficult experience elsewhere.

Our priority is to make sure you feel listened to, understand what is happening and have clear information about your options.

“I can't recommend my experience at the Complications Clinic enough. It was the most professional aesthetics-related appointment I have ever had. It felt more medical than aesthetic which was really refreshing. The treatment was painless and I was given so much helpful advice to use moving forwards. Highly recommend”
